Review of movie Stand By Me Stand By Me is a movie based on a novel by Stephen King. It tells the story of four preteens, who during a boring summer day, embark on a journey to find the body of a dead twelve year old, who has been missing by news accounts, but known to them, to be lying in the woods near a river bank. The story is told as an historical narrative about the lives and relationships of the four main characters in this movie, Gordy, Chris, Teddy, and Vern. In this essay, I will discuss how communication, and self-concept, affects the characters, and their interactions. Gordy La Chance, who is the narrator of this story, can best be described as an introvert. He is living in the shadow of his recently deceased brother,†¦show more content†¦He comes from what Gordy describes as a ?bad family?, and believes himself to be bad too. His self-fulfilling prophecy would be to turn out as bad as everyone in town believes that he will. Gordy sees the good in him, and pushes him to be more than Chris perceives he is capable of being. Chris is the group leader. The others in the group value his opinion, and he is the protector. He sticks up for the rest of the boys, and they look up to him. One example of this is when Ace, an older, bullying local, steals Gordy?s hat. He verbally attacks the older bully, on behalf of Gordy. His presenting self is confident, independent, and tough. Inwardly, or his perceived self, is incapable, and destined to become nothing, primarily caused by the locals, and his family continually reminding him that he comes from a f amily of trouble, so he must trouble too. Teddy DuChamp can best be described as an antagonist. His father abused him, and was eventually put into an asylum, this leaving Teddy with a stigma of being the son of a ?looney?. This brought about his self-fulfilling prophecy of craziness. He has a problem with self-control, to the point where it could cause him serious harm. One example of this is when he begins arguing with the keeper of a junkyard, and instead of backing down during the altercation, he continues to fight, without realizing that he could be endangering himself. Hypocrisy. It is a lie, a contradiction, a prejudice. Like a trap for the mind one lays for themselves, many don’t realize they are ensnared, living their lives unaware of their wrongs to others and themselves. In To Kill A Mockingbird the residents of Maycomb County are thrown into new situations which reveal the depths of their hypocrisy to Scout, whose development is fueled by it. In the light of new ideas, old ones can change, along with There is hypocrisy abound in To Kill A Mockingbird. Many characters in hold on to high, â€Å"moral† beliefs while acting in the contrary. In chapter 26, Aunt Alexandra holds a house party for all the ladies in the town. Not only that, but they are also the â€Å"scum of Maycomb County†, with Bob being the town drunkard, notorious for letting his children go hungry while he drinks, beating his kids, and being a poor father. The children are also somewhat mean and lazy, only ever attending the first day of school to cheat the truant lady, and being bullies to everyone, even Mrs Caroline. Not much of the family is mentioned after that until Scout, Jem, and Dill hide out in the courthouse to watch Tom Robinson’s trial. There, through Atticus’s defence, it is revealed that Tom did not do anything to Mayella, and to top it off, that Bob is the one who beat her. Gangue is one of the largest accumulating solid, and is particularly rich in pyrite. Therefore, pyrite recovery from gangue is not only significant for the environmental protection, but also for the development and production of chemicals. The dry separation methods, leading to the decreased waste and cost effectiveness, have received significant attention of many scholars. In this study, the vibration energy was introduced to promote the separation of particles. The interactions and effect of comparison of the gas velocity, vibration intensity, and bed height were investigated. Moreover, the sulfur migration for pyrite recovery from the gangue has been studied by several analytical techniques. The results show that the segregation efficiency was directly related to the interaction between various factors. After the separation, the sulfur content of the concentrates of -6+3, -3+1, and -1+0.5 mm was 37.94, 35.43, and 30.61%, respectively. The sulfur segregation’s standard devia tion (SSSD) was 0.70, achieving a satisfactory separation efficiency, indicating that pyrite was the foremost material in the concentrate, and S and Fe migrated in the form of pyrite during the separation process, indicating that pyrite could be effectively enriched by the dry method of vibration fluidized bed after the separation.
